The
links below will list churches, cathedrals, chapels and
other sites both in Britain and in France, which
contain interesting collections of monuments or, in
some cases, one outstanding monument. For Britain the
list is given by county but, for ease of reference, the "old" counties, set in stone by Pevsner,
will be used. Photographs and brief notes are given
of the monuments and, in some cases, links to the websites
(which may be the actual church web site) where further details may be
found, often including further photographs of the monuments. I will also add links
to web sites about the various scuptors and the commemorated. This list is by no
means comprehensive and the reader is refered to Pevner's Buildings
of England from which may be obtain as complete a list as is
available anywhere.

on the link below to access the relevant page.
Note
that this work is forever "in progress" and more monuments will
be added as time goes on. I will upload a county before I have
by any means completed it but when I feel there is sufficient
material to be of interest. If you think there are any omissions or
errors please e-mail the Society

Future Projects: . I will resume work
on the Somerset & Bristol page next spring and hope to complete it in
time for the symposium in the summer of that year. After
that I will add more material to Worcester Cathedral,
in preparation for the study day there, and work on the Hampshire page (not yet
uploaded), which will include Winchester Cathedral initially,
in time for the symposium of 2010.
