General Guidelines for Church Tours

1)     Tours are run for the benefit of members of the Church Monuments Society and supporters of the Historic Churches Preservation Trust but are open (unless otherwise stated) to all to participate in.

2)     As each event has to pay its way, insufficient numbers may lead to the cancellation of a particular event. Unless otherwise stated refunds will be made in full where this happens.

3)     Whilst Risk Assessments are carried out on Church Tours and each organisation carries Public Liability Insurance, all day trips are at participants' own risk. Inclusive tours include a charge for insurance which has been a legal obligation for such events since 1st January 2005.

4)     In the event of any query that the Organiser (Robin Millerchip) cannot provide an answer for, then reference should be made to either:

·        The Chief Executiver, H.C.P.T., 31 Newbury Street, London EC1A 7HU

·        Dr Phillip G Lindley , Dept. of History of Art & Film, University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester LE1 7RH

5)     Unless otherwise clearly stated all tours are by coach from and returning to the advertised pick up point, and the coach fare and main meal costs are usually included in all prices.

6)     Unforeseen events do occur from time to time, and consequently, tour itineraries may be altered at the last minute if required to enable the event to be completed in a reasonable way.

7)     Whilst there are few set deadlines, it makes for more effective use of your money if bookings can be made no later than two weeks before the event for day tours, one month for inclusive tours.

8)     All cancellations are treated sympathetically, but please submit (in writing preferably) ASAP.

9)     If there are any general queries about the  programme or individual tours please do not hesitate to contact the Hon Tour Secretary, Robin Millerchip, 10 Newton Villas, Coxhoe, Durham DH6 4JF, who can be phoned at reasonable hours on 0191 377 0521 or can be contacted by email at r.millerchip@btopenworld.com

Church Tours have retained the same Objectives for over twenty years:

  ·   To assist with raising money for both organisations and for individual churches

                    ·  To provide a vehicle for education for all about the diverse heritage to be found in Britain’s churches.
